Pinch

This morning I visited the Pinch Design studio in North Clapham.  I went especially to see the Pendel sofa but was amazed by how much beautifully designed furniture they had in their stunning studio in a converted train warehouse.

The Pendel sofa is truly charming, small but perfectly proportioned and ideal against a wall by a window and for elegant lady tea parties.  I love that Swedish fabric, Russell told me it was designed in the 1930′s but feels so fresh and contemporary.

The studio is positively cavernous with enormously high ceilings and large stained glass windows and the best wooden floors I’ve seen in some time..

Beautiful salvaged cast iron spiral staircase.  I love how they’ve cleverly mixed modern industrial and made it feel warm and comfortable, a great example of how to take a huge, light space and bring it down to a comfortable scale with clever lighting and comfy furniture.

They had amazing sculptural pendant lights made by a milliner, which I thought was a stroke of genius as millinery techniques translate so well to light shades.

I loved that everything was made locally in the UK with an emphasis on sustainability.

Such a pretty sofa, love the pattern too, it’s the kind of sofa where you want to sit and sip tea from pretty china…
